For how many more years will the High Plains Aquifer last at the current
  rates of recharge and withdrawal? (Hint: Divide the total volume of the
  aquifer by the annual loss you calculated in question .) What will be an ideal response?



Question 2

What is the diff erence between the annual rate of withdrawal (from
  question c) and the rate of recharge of the High Plains Aquifer (from
  question )? Is this an annual gain or loss of water for the aquifer? What will be an ideal response?

4,030,000,000,000 m3  17,120,000,000 m3/yr = 235 years

Answer to Question 2

21,170,000,000 m3 4,050,000,000 m3 = 17,120,000,000 m3
This is a loss of about 17.1 billion m3/yr.
