Answer to Question 1

C

Answer to Question 2

Caverns are created at or just below the water table when acidic groundwater comes into contact with soluble rock, such as limestone. The groundwater follows lines of weakness in the rocks, and as time passes, the rock is dissolved. This dissolving process slowly creates cavities and generally enlarges them into caverns.
