Answer to Question 1

Ice cores in Greenland and the Antarctic have been analyzed for thickness and gas content, especially the content of carbon dioxide and methane, two greenhouse gases. Results of ice core analysis demonstrate that peaks in the levels of methane and global temperatures 400,000 and 800,000 years ago were very similar to the peaks that we see today. However, the peak carbon dioxide levels that we see today have never been seen in history.

Answer to Question 2

Citizen scientists (SCUBA divers) were trained to record which types of fish they see during dives. Scientist were then able to keep track of what is going on in the reef ecosystem.
