Clinical manifestations associated with the more negative intrapleural pressures needed during inspiration include, but are not limited to, seesaw breathing movement and cyanosis of the dependent thoracic areas. It is unlikely that your patient will have normal, vesicular breath sounds. Pulmonary edema is not associated with RDS.

Allergic reaction to drugs can cause noncardiogenic pulmonary edema. The other listed options, and others, can cause cardiogenic pulmonary edema.
