Answer to Question 1

C
All of the following may be used to help in the diagnosis of a patient with epiglottitis: visualization of the throat during tracheal intubation, observing if the patient can swallow, and observing how the patient holds his or her tongue. A patient who is suspected of having epiglottitis should not lie flat to have the throat visualized unless an endotracheal tube is being inserted.

Answer to Question 2

C
During PPHN, blood will flow through the foramen ovale and ductus arteriosus to bypass the lungs. Fetal circulation involves blood passing through the foramen ovale, ductus arteriosus, ductus venosus, and hypogastric arteries. See Figure 31-3.
