Answer to Question 1

A
LTB is an inflammatory process that causes edema and swelling of the mucous membranes. Airway smooth muscle contraction is found in asthma. Pulmonary edema is excessive alveolar fluid. Epiglottitis is a swollen epiglottis.

Answer to Question 2

A
Specific gravity is a measurement of the density of fluids and would not be indicated in evaluating the cause of a pleural effusion.
