Osteoporosis is common in the elderly. Radiologic examination may detect loss of bone density, fractures, or loss of vertebral height. Kyphosis (curvature of the spine) can be associated with osteoporosis; this typically causes a humpbacked appearance (dowager's hump or widow's hump).
