The oximeter is read as percent oxygen saturation (O2 sat), often notated as SpO2 or SaO2 . Normal pulse oximetry levels range from 95 to 100. Values less than 90 need rapid intervention, usually supplemental oxygen. Values less than 85 generally need immediate intervention.

With a two-point gait, the client is partially weight-bearing on both legs. With a three-point gait, each crutch and only one leg support weight. With a four-point gait, each crutch and each leg move separately. With the swing-through or tripod gait, the client stands on the strong leg, moves both crutches forward the same distance, rests his or her weight on the palms, and swings forward slightly ahead of the crutches.
