The economic environment may influence health-seeking behavior. Low-income families gener-ally access the health care system for preventive care less often than families with moderate to upper levels of income. In addition, it is more likely that women and children of low socioeco-nomic status will not be insured.

Everyone exists within an environment, the surroundings or conditions that exert an influence on, and affect the health of, a person. One's environment is made up of physical, cultural, spiritual, social, economic, and developmental components.
