When moving an x-ray tube over a sterile field, the field must be covered with a sterile sheet, which is discarded by the circulator after use because it has become contaminated.

The circulator should be nearby when the scrub person is draping in order to direct the procedure and watch for breaks in sterile technique.

ANS: T
Since the x-ray tube is not considered sterile, the sterile field must be covered when the tube is passed over it. Once the x-ray tube has passed above the sheet covering the field, this sheet must be discarded by a nonsterile member.

During any draping procedure, the circulator should stand by to direct the scrub person and watch for breaks in technique.
