Answer to Question 1

ANS: T
It is a specialty branch of medicine that requires knowledge of the sciences and respiratory physiology. It renders the patient insensible to pain and supports the functions of life.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: D
Slow warming, adequate oxygenation, and prevention of massive sudden vasodilation are ways to prevent rewarming shock. If the patient is rewarmed too rapidly, vasodilation can cause a drop in blood pressure and shivering can cause organ ischemia. Also, constriction can occur with shivering.
