Answer to Question 1

ANS: T
The puncturing sharp or instrument needs to be removed from the sterile field. If the skin is punctured or cut, both gloves need to be removed. If both gloves are not removed, contamination of the wound is possible. The wound should be squeezed, washed under running water and irrigated with a disinfectant. Report the incident immediately.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: F
The stockinette cuff of the gown is contaminated once a hand passes through it, and it is an absorbent and moisture-retaining part of the gown. Once the cuff has been contained within the closed glove, it should not be pulled back over the hand because it is contaminated. Re-gloving should be done using the open-assisted gloving technique.

This is partially backed up by the fact that early grandfather clocks displayed IIII for the number 4 instead of IV. Early clockmakers apparently thought that the IIII balanced out the VIII (used for the number 8) on the clock face and that it just looked better.
