Complications associated with nasogastric intubation of the foal include aspiration, secondary
aspiration pneumonia, pharyngeal irritation, esophagitis, epistaxis, secondary guttural pouch
infection, and GI intolerance (colic, bloat, diarrhea).

Answer to Question 2

Complications associated with administration of nasal oxygen include epistaxis, nasal
irritation, and inadvertent removal of tube.
