Response should occur within 2 weeks, and neither safety nor efficacy has be established for treatment lasting longer than this. Researchers have evaluated the use of light therapy in a small population of women with nonseasonal depression and reported improvements, indicating that light therapy may have use in treating depression outside of SAD.
