Answer to Question 1

A historical discussion of intelligence must cover general intelligence, the two-factor solution, the triarchic theory, and multiple intelligences. Alternative assessments are more encompassing and embrace diversity, they are not widely accepted and used in our society.

Answer to Question 2

A definition of creativity must focus on novelty and invention. Discussion should stress the positive relationship between creativity and intelligence. Educational or familial examples must compare divergent and convergent thinking and the role of encouragement, opportunity, and intrinsic rewards. Examples from Box 6.2 should be included.
