When discussing coping strategies, the nurse might ask what the patient does when he or she becomes upset, what usually relieves stress, and to whom the patient goes to talk about problems. The question regarding whether the patient's faith helps deal with stress fits well here. It would seem out of place if introduced during exploration of the other topics.

Physical criteria for hospitalization include weight loss of more than 30 of body weight within 6 months, temperature below 96.8 F (hypothermia), heart rate less than 40 beats/min, and systolic blood pressure less than 70 mm Hg.
