Answer to Question 1

Ans: C
Feedback:
The incidence of HIV, AIDS, and hepatitis A, B, and C are higher in the forensic population than in the general population, primarily because of high-risk behaviors demonstrated by many forensic clients, such as tattooing, ear and body piercing, risky sexual activity, and IV drug use. It is important that persons who have communicable diseases take action to reduce the spread of such diseases in the prison population.

Answer to Question 2

Ans: C
Feedback:
Security concerns affect every aspect of forensic psychiatric nursing practice and can complicate the creation of a therapeutic relationship. Often, interview rooms are glassed in completely to allow maximum observation of the nurse conducting the assessment. These rooms are soundproof, but all can see inside, violating the right to privacy and confidentiality common to the psychiatric nurseclient relationship (yet vital to security). This unique characteristic of forensic nursing supersedes the effects of language and cultural barriers or lack of health records. Forensic nursing does not lack an evidence base.

There are major differences in the metabolism of morphine and the illegal drug heroin. Morphine mostly produces its CNS effects through m-receptors, and at k- and d-receptors. Heroin has a slight affinity for opiate receptors. Most of its actions are due to metabolism to active metabolites (6-acetylmorphine, morphine, and morphine-6-glucuronide).
