Answer to Question 1

Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is what chromosomes are composed of. DNA is a very complex substance composed of large molecules that can be put together in an almost unlimited number of ways. Segments of DNA, called genes, are connected and arranged on the chromosomes. Each segment or gene is responsible for developing a particular characteristic. The code for how the animal is to be formed (all its characteristics) is encoded in the DNA that makes up the genes.
