Worldwide desalination capacity was about 326 cubic meters per day in 1945. By 2013, that had increased to
80,900,000 cubic meters per day



Answer to Question 2

The World Health Organization says total dissolved solids (TDS) should not exceed 1,000 milligrams per liter, but
the EPA sets a limit of 500 milligrams per liter. Seawater averages 35,000 milligrams per liter in TDS.
