Answer to Question 1

The central system could burn cheaper fuel such as heavier grades of oil,
wood, or coal. It could provide the hot water needed for a floor or bench heat
distribution system. It could provide steam for a greenhouse range where steam
pasteurization is the desired means of cleaning the root substrate. For a very large
firm the upkeep of a central system could be cheaper than numerous localized
heaters.

Answer to Question 2

The condensing boiler has extra heat exchanger capacity in the flue that
captures usable heat to the point where water condenses out of the flue gas. The
flue gas is cooled to a lower temperature than in conventional boilers which
considerably raises the efficiency of the boiler.
