Answer to Question 1

A
Always discard the first sample at the beginning of the collection period. The 24-hour collection period begins after you throw away the first specimen. The patient then collects all urine voided in 24 hours.

Answer to Question 2

A
Review with the patient his or her perceptions about success at meeting the expectations of care. Do you feel less nauseous? is a question to ask if the patient's expectations revolve around symptom management.
