Answer to Question 1

ANS: B
The patient should be advised to take two pills at the regular scheduled time she takes her oral contraceptive and then to continue the regular schedule.
Just missing the dose without trying to make it up is incorrect.
It would not be effective to stop taking the pill until the next menses.
Because the person has missed just one pill, use of a back-up method is unnecessary; however, the nurse should strongly recommend that condoms be used as a precaution.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: C
Women who weigh 200 pounds (90 kg) or more have an increased pregnancy rate.
Withdrawal bleeding, lack of side effects, and the desire for more children are not reasons to discourage a change from an OC to the patch.
