An 18-year-old male patient is treated with isotretinoin for acne. The nurse should instruct him to:

  b. use abrasive soap to aid in desquamation.
  c. discontinue use of the drug if flaking of the skin occurs.
  d. use the drug in conjunction with benzoyl peroxide.
