This toxicity can include severe steroid-induced diabetes mellitus. A priority intervention with this patient is monitoring blood glucose levels. Assessment of capillary refill time and cardiac rhythm would not be indicated by the data supplied about this patient. White blood cell counts should be monitored on any patient receiving long-term corticosteroids but is not specific to this patient.
