Answer to Question 1

Poetry has been recited or sung for centuries in pre- and post-Islamic Arabia and the prevalence of poetry and song illustrates the key position of language in Arab culture.
Transient nomadic desert tribes called Bedouins have memorialized the distinctive characteristics of their life in song, dance, poetry, stories, and artifacts that are key to Arab collective identity.
WOM presented an excerpt of the Bedouin epic tradition (Sirat Bani Hilal) performed by the poet-singer, Sheiki Taha.

Answer to Question 2

the blaring of trumpets (nafir) and beating of frame drums (bendirs) as the couple is escorted into the reception hall and when everyone periodically walks around the hall

four Berber women singing and dancing in a style unique to the Atlas Mountains to the accompaniment of bendir and fiddle (rabab)
a third musical configuration of men playing bendir and rabab and huge tambourines (mazhar) and long, straight, valve-less trumpets (nafir)
