The refrigerant R-22 in a system component has a pressure of 70 psig and a temperature of 50F. Is it saturated, superheated, or subcooled?

If the input in BTUs per hour if the heating capacity of the gas is 950 BTUs per cubic foot?

Answer to Question 1

R-22 at 70 psig is saturated at just over 40F. Since 50F is greater than 40F, this refrigerant is superheated.

Answer to Question 2

60 cubic feet x 950 BTU/cubic foot = 57,000 BTUs per hour
