They chemically decompose when exposed to flames or very high temperatures, releasing their chlorine and fluorine. This creates highly irritating and potentially toxic gases, including chlorine gas, fluorine gas, and phosgene gas.

R-290, propane has an LFL of 21,000 ppm per volume. As compared to ammonia
