What does carrying capacity mean? Some have defined it as the number that can be supported long term without damage to the environment. Is this a reasonable definition? Why or why not?

If the amount of use by a species is less than the carrying capacity, the ecosystem
can sustain the species indefinitely. If the use exceeds the carrying capacity, the ecosystem
suffers, and may indeed suffer permanent impairment.

Something that has a high specific heat will not increase its temperature as much
for a given transfer of heat as something that has a low specific heat.
