Answer to Question 1
Enzymes are catalysts. Catalysts change the rate of reactions, although they do not
alter the energy balance. The reactions in question must be as fast as they are used in the
body, and the enzymes allow the reactions to proceed as fast as needed.
Answer to Question 2
Because there are so few air molecules per cubic meter in the stratosphere, it
would be difficult for a conducting path to occur. Lightning occurs in the lower part of the
atmosphere, the troposphere. Where lightning occurs, it can break the molecules apart, and
ozone can be made.
