A 2.0-m long conducting wire is formed into a square and placed in the horizontal xy-plane. A uniform magnetic field is oriented 30.0 above the horizontal with a strength of 9.0 T. What is the magnetic flux through the square?

  A) 1.1 T  m2
  B) 1.9 T  m2
  C) 2.3 T  m2
  D) 18 T  m2

Question 2

A 15.0 kg block of ice at 0.00C falls into Lake Superior, which is a fresh water lake. The lake water is at 10.0C, and the latent heat of fusion for ice is 3.34  105 J/kg.

Find the change in entropy due to the melting of the ice (a) of the block of ice, (b) of the lake, and (c) of the system consisting of the lake and the ice. (d) Is your answer to part (c) consistent with the reversibility or irreversibility of the melting process?
