Students may choose Quay and Petersons system, Achenbach and Edelbrocks system, or DSM-based criteria.
Another form of differentiation is related to the use of DSM-IV. A description of this system of categorizing, mention of who typically uses the system, and an example (most students will choose ADHD) are all ways to respond.

Answer to Question 2

Recommendations for alternative definitions are based on the subjective nature of the existing criteria.
Mention of the popular acceptance by professionals of the term behavior disordered would illustrate the move away from internal causes (such as neuroses and psychoses) to external manifestations (behaviors), which can be more objectively measured.
