Answer to Question 1

Depending on the type of diabetes and other factors this will vary. Type 1 diabetics may need to check blood glucose several times a day, such as before meals or exercise, at bedtime, before driving, and when an individual thinks their blood glucose levels are low.

Answer to Question 2

Hypoglycemia (low blood glucose) begins at levels less than 70 mg/dl. A person who is hypoglycemic should consume 15-20 grams of glucose or simple carbohydrates.
