Answer to Question 1

Capoten: antihypertensive, ACE inhibitor, helps to control HTN.

Lasix: a loop diuretic that inhibits reabsorption of Na and Cl at the proximal portion of the ascending loop of Henle.

Answer to Question 2

BP of 175/100 means that his systolic pressure (maximum blood pressure or the pressure exerted on the inside walls of the blood vessels when the heart is contracting or working) is 175 mm Hg and his diastolic pressure (the point of the least pressure in the arterial vascular system, or when the heart is resting) is 100 mm Hg. The most important reading is the diastolic reading. If it does not relax sufficiently, cardiovascular disease, strokes, and renal failure may result.

His blood pressure is very high by today's standards and is definitely something to worry about.
