BEE = 66 + 13.7  wt + 5  ht -  6.8  age
= 66 + 13.7  68 + 5  180 - 6.8  45
= 66 + 931.6 + 900 - 306
= 1591.6 or 1600

1600  1.5 - 1.7 = 2400 to 2720 or 68  35 - 40 kcals/kg = 2380 to 2720

Answer to Question 2

1 . Be sure he has his physician's approval
2 . Be evaluated by a physician or exercise physiologist prior to starting an exercise program.
3 . Follow recommendations carefully, beginning very slowly and gradually increasing until the goals set by appropriate health professionals are reached.
