Answer to Question 1

It appears to be similar to a fatty liver caused by alcoholic cirrhosis in that the liver cannot metabolize the large amount of fatty acids being presented to it and they end up being deposited in the liver. The low carbohydrate in the diet will result is less insulin being produced and thus less fat synthesis for fat deposit in adipose tissue, which is the purpose for low-carbohydrate diets. Possibly, this is complicating the issue and causing more fatty acids to be released into the blood by adipose tissue.

Answer to Question 2

Steatorrhea: diarrhea with a high concentration of fat in the stools.

Bronchiectasis: dilatation of a bronchus or bronchi, usually secreting large amounts of pus.

Atelectasis: a collapsed or airless condition of the lung; may be caused by obstruction by foreign bodies, mucous plugs or excessive secretions.
