Answer to Question 1

The adjusted body wt is used to calculate kcals because the extra cells do have a small kcal requirement. The extra adipose tissue does not significantly increase the protein requirement, but, with this great a difference between the actual and RBW, some extra protein could be allowed. Each case would depend on the individual, their activity, muscle mass, etc.

Answer to Question 2

Cramps, alternating periods of diarrhea and constipation, dyspepsia, flatus, and abdominal distension. This may be accompanied by tenderness to touch and fever.
