Answer to Question 1

This will cause dehydration and cause some values to appear higher than they really are, i.e. Hgb, Hct, BUN, Cr, and glucose.

Answer to Question 2

GG should be on an antidumping syndrome diet. Since the pyloric sphincter has been removed, everything GG eats will go straight to the small intestines without being held until the right osmolality is reached. Therefore, GG's meals will have to be small and frequent; liquids should be taken 1 hr before or after eating; and concentrated sweets, alcohol, and caffeine should be avoided. Anything that would irritate the mucosa and cause an increase in peristalsis should be avoided.
