Answer to Question 1

Anorexics frequently become bulimics after overcoming their starvation dieting. In this case SP has overcome her starvation tactics but goes on a guilt trip after overeating. Bulimics are still very concerned with body shape and weight as mentioned earlier. SP still needs to be encouraged to try to eat a balanced diet without being concerned about weight. Frequently, bulimics overeat when they are depressed or bored. SP still needs to be encouraged to eat with a friend or family member who will encourage her. She should still be receiving professional help from a psychologist.

Electrolytes could be greatly affected: Na, K, and Cl d/t vomiting, diarrhea, and urinary losses; dehydration for the same reasons; loss of gastric digestive potential 2o to vomiting; imbalance of pH 2o to vomiting and electrolyte losses; erosion of teeth 2o to vomiting; arrhythmias, heart attack 2o to electrolyte imbalance; malabsorption 2o to loss of gastric secretions and diarrhea. Lab values that would probably be affected quickly are Na, K, and Cl.
