Answer to Question 1

D
Strawberries are one of the eight foods (spinach, rhubarb, beets, nuts, chocolate, tea, wheat bran, and strawberries) that cause significant increases in urinary oxalate excretion; therefore straw-berry shortcake may increase urinary oxalate levels. Ginger cookies, cinnamon rolls, and blueberry muffins would not increase urinary oxalate levels.

Answer to Question 2

C
The most important advice for preventing kidney stones is to drink at least 10 to 12 cups of fluid daily. Restricting dietary calcium intake is not necessary and may actually increase stone forma-tion. Increasing dietary protein intake may increase stone formation. Body weight does not ap-pear to be related to formation of kidney stones.
