Answer to Question 1

A
Each 1 increase in dietary kcal from saturated fats is associated with an increase in LDL cho-lesterol level of about 2.

Answer to Question 2

B
TLCs recommended to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease include reduced intake of satu-rated fats. Intake of total fat does not appear to affect LDL cholesterol level. Substitution of mo-nounsaturated or polyunsaturated fats for saturated fats can help decrease LDL cholesterol levels; polyunsaturated fats may also decrease HDL cholesterol levels and so should be moderated.
