Iodine is an essential component of T3 and T4, the thyroid hormones responsible for regulating metabolic rate, body temperature, reproduction, growth, the synthesis of blood cells, and nerve and muscle function.

C
High levels of low-density lipoproteins are associated with increased risk of coronary artery dis-ease. They do not have a direct effect on risk of diabetes mellitus or high blood pressure and stroke. LDL and HDL levels are not necessarily related.
