Answer to Question 1

D
Feedback:
Calorie needs may range from 25 to 30 cal/kg for nonambulatory or sedentary adults to 35 cal/kg or more for hypermetabolic or severely stressed clients; protein needs range from 1.0 to 2.5 g/kg. First compute the weight in kg: 125 pounds / 2.2 kg = 56.8 kg. Now using the maximum range, compute the calorie and protein needs: (57 kg  35 cal/kg = 1995 cal) and (57 kg  2.5 g/kg = 142.5 g).

Answer to Question 2

1
Rationale: Trousseau's and Chvostek's sign can easily be used by the nurse during a physical assessment to test for signs of hypocalcemia. Levels of potassium, phosphorous, and iron are usually measured by serum tests.
