Answer to Question 1

2
Rationale: The gallbladder releases bile into the small intestine to help with fat digestion. Most people who have had the gallbladder removed find that smaller amounts of fat are easier to digest than large, high-fat meals. Weight management is not related to having a gallbladder and its role in fat digestion. The liver manufactures adequate cholesterol without any additional dietary intake. Carbohydrate digestion is not related to the gallbladder.

Answer to Question 2

D
Metabolism is the process by which absorbed nutrients are used by the body for energy and to form and maintain body structures and functions. Absorbed nutrients are used to maintain body structures and functions, but not to break down body structures. Excreted nutrients are not avail-able to be used by the body.
