Answer to Question 1

The rhythm method is a birth control strategy in which sexual inter course is avoided during those days of the menstrual cycle in which fertilization is most likely. This so-called calendar method counts the woman's safe days based on her individual menstrual cycle in one of two ways.
The basal-body-temperature method determines the safe days based on the woman's basal body temperature, which rises after ovulation.
The cervical mucus method, also called the ovulation method, is based on observation of changes in the consistency of the woman's vaginal mucus throughout her menstrual cycle. The period of maximum fertility occurs when the mucus is smooth and slippery.

Advantages of the rhythm method
 No expense.
 No side effects.
No need for a prescription, medical visit, or fittings.
Nothing to insert, swallow, or check.
 No effect on fertility.
Complies with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.

Disadvantages of the rhythm method
Less reliable than other forms of birth control.
Couples must abstain from vaginal intercourse 8 to 11 days a month or use some form of contraception.
Conscientious planning and scheduling are essential.
May not work for women with irregular menstrual cycles.
Some women find the mucus or temperature methods difficult to use.

Drug abusers experience the following scenario: The pleasure given by their drug (or drugs) of choice is so strong that it is difficult to eradicate even after years of staying away from the substances involved. Certain triggers may cause a drug abuser to relapse. Research shows that long-term drug abuse results in significant changes in brain function that persist long after an individual stops using drugs. It is most important to realize that the same is true of not just illegal substances but alcohol and tobacco as well.
