Chiropractors are licensed in all 50 states, but some consider chiropractic a mainstream therapy while others view it as a form of complementary and alternative medicine CAM. Significant research in the past 10 years has demonstrated its efficacy for acute lower-back pain. The National Institutes of Health is funding research on other potential benefits, including headaches, asthma, middle ear inflammation, menstrual cramps, and arthritis.
