Characteristics of an emotionally healthy person include a determination and effort to be healthy, flexibility and adaptability, a sense of meaning and affirmation in life, compassion for others, unselfishness in serving and relating to others, increased depth and satisfaction in intimate relationships, and a sense of control over mind and body.
Characteristics of a mentally healthy person include an ability to function and carry out responsibilities, an ability to form relationships, realistic perceptions of the motivations of others, rational, logical thought processes, and an ability to adapt to change and cope with adversity.
