Answer to Question 1

Two cultures that influenced Lebanese cuisine were the Ottoman Turks and the French.
The Turks introduced many foods that the Lebanese are now famous for such as baklava,
flatbreads, olive oil, stuffed vegetables, grilled meats, and coffee. The French came to
Lebanon much later but brought croissants, flan, and refined the cuisine by toning down
its strong flavors into a more palatable and delicious cuisine.
