Increasingly, long-term care living center will host residents for short-term rehabilitation.
 
  In these situations, how will the dining service needs of these residents differ? As a dining service director, how would you accommodate the desires and expectations of these residents?

Examples include:

 Provide flexible dining choices, encouraging residents to choose from eating in the dining room or ordering room service.
 Provide sophisticated and varied menu options that will appeal to residents with more exotic and expensive tastes.
 Provide ample opportunity for residents to offer feedback and modify services as able.

Examples include:

 Set dining room tables with home-like table settings, such as tablecloths, cloth napkins, cutlery, glasses, etc.
 Encourage residents to submit their own recipes to be included in the menu rotation
 Promote a social environment in the dining room. Greet residents by name and encourage genuine conversations between dining staff and residents.
 Provide residents as much independence and choice as possible, most easily accomplished with restaurant and buffet style services.
