Answer to Question 1

Answer: Drawings will vary. A properly prepared sketch is drawn to scale. Generally, they do not identify color, type of floor, or non-evidential matter. Too much detail can clutter a sketch. Sketches should have the officer's name and rank, the date, time, type of crime, address of scene, primary items of physical evidence, and a key or legend. Scale and measurement are extremely important. The rough sketch is the one drawn by officers on the crime scene. Generally, it is not drawn to scale but should reflect accurate dimensions and distances between objects of importance. With the finished sketch being drawn to scale, however, it is not necessary to include the specific measurements on the sketch itself. If the finished sketch is not drawn to scale, measurements are required. Methods used can be the coordinated method, the triangulation method, or the cross-projection method.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: Answers will vary, but the slides should be presented from a general, to a medium, to a close view. As far as admissibility an explanation regarding materiality, relevancy, prejudicial images, and distorted photos might be discussed.
