Answer to Question 1

First, the importance of the adolescent in the decision-making process is stressed, and she or he is encouraged to become engaged in personal decisions about health. Second, a good rapport established between the health professional and the adolescent may lead to greater interaction between both parties. Finally, behavior change is more likely when the adolescent has suggested ways to change, thus becoming engaged in the education process and owning a willingness to change.
